Pre-Christmas fun

Just wanted to post some gorgeous pics from earlier in the week.
First, the Down's Group Christmas party.  Ella met Santa for the first time - was a little unsure but still managed to give his beard a good tug, just to check he was real.... She did well as she was poorly (again!)...

It all got a bit too much for some!...

Then on Tuesday, a trip to see my friend Gill and meet her beautiful daughter Orla for the first time.  Had a lovely morning - thank you for the lovely company, cookies and coffee...

Ella testing the water...

Thanks for taking some pics too Gill...

The rest of the week was a little more eventful - will write about that later!
Off to get ready for Christmas Eve fun at my mum's

Santa's little helper

When Ella is awake, you know about it!  She's not still for a second, very chatty, smiley and into everything.
So, to be able to properly take her in for a moment, you have to wait until she is sleeping.  So still, quiet and peaceful....

My impatient side has recently been on show.... Ella is still not crawling, no where near walking or talking and it seems she has been static for a while and not done anything new.
Well, I should know better of my girl by now than to doubt her....
This weekend she decided she would be spending a lot of time standing, pulling to stand and  feeding herself....

Not yet able to manipulate food onto the spoon, but she can get the spoon into her mouth...

And finger feeding has come on too...

All finished!...

On Monday, Santa's little helper (Ella) and I went to help my mum decorate her tree....

Ella got the job of untangling the lights....

The fat robin, almost as old as me...

 The finished product

Nearly Christmas now! And we have the snow to prove it.

I'll do it tomorrow...

There are so many things I should be doing.  Writing Christmas cards, wrapping gifts, folding washing or unstacking the dishwasher (to name but a few jobs on my never ending 'to-do' list).

Instead, I find myself putting more decorations on the tree, lighting festive smelling candles and draping tinsel on anything that doesn't move...  I've also hung the wreath, made cranberry sauce to give as gifts and compiled a Christmas playlist...

I am off for a glass of wine.  The 'to-do' list will have to wait until tomorrow, it is Friday night after all...

At least festive procrastination is productive (and good fun)!!

Have a lovely weekend everyone x

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

With the birthday celebrations behind us, it's now time to prepare for Christmas.  Ella is finally back to her normal self after her chest infection.

Her smile and cheery self had been missing for too long.  She's back to nursery and generally causing chaos!

And, it was all good news after her heart scan yesterday (heart recovering well post surgery, back in 8 months) so plenty to smile about...

It's amazing the fun you can have with a non-slip bathmat (and packaging!)

Her appetite is taking a little longer to recover but she eats what she wants, when she wants it.  Seems happy enough...

We spent a couple of days at Granny Karen's house.  The seasons have shifted and winter is most definitely here.  Baby, it's cold outside!  We stayed (for the most part) cosy and snug inside.  Lots of playing, sleeping and good old home cooked meals...

She still has that 'just-for-daddy' smile (although, I reckon, she was secretly plotting to whack him with the wooden spoon...)

My little assistant

Granny Karen has been busy with the knitting needles and has produced this beautiful number which will be perfect for Ella in spring. I am quite tempted to request one to match...

Ella on the little rocking chair that was Daddy's when he was small

Granny has two cats, Bertie (below) and Boots.  Bertie is curious and brave and Boots is a little more reserved.  Ella loved them and got quite frustrated when they moved out of grabbing/stroking/tail pulling reach.  God help them when she is crawling!

For those of you who have seen Ella hug her teddies and Rosie doll, that is exactly what happened when Bertie came to investigate... He got two big headlock hugs and a kiss to boot... To say he has never seen a baby before he was very tolerant. Unfortunately, I missed catching the moment on camera. Maybe next time.

Nap time for cats and babies...

The tree is up, the Christmas greetings are landing on the doormat and the presents need wrapping.  It's beginning to feel like Christmas now...

However...I never feel properly festive until I help my mum decorate her tree (christmas music on, glass of advocaat, 20yr old falling apart tree decorations we made at school and reading all the christmas letters mum has received from people who I have no idea who they are...) , roll on Monday!

Ella loves the lights, bells, decorations and tinsel.  I know she is too young to remember all this but I will be pulling out all the stops anyway...

Must dash, lots to do! x
